The Ice Cream Social

I took my niece out today for birthday Ice Cream at Cold Stone. I am not a Cold Stone sort of person but, she had never been there. The plan was to go to Baskin Robins and get her a free scoop of ice cream. Funny how things just do not turn out the way that you think. For one I am on a seriously tight budget...I mean tight! I was able to put guess in my car and Cold Stone was closer to home. With the drive to Baskin Robins I pretty much would have spent what I did for her ice cream.

Kids are funny! I niece is turning seven on Saturday and she must think that I have a load of money. Interesting because it is not like I get her many things are take her out a lot. When she asks for something I do not jump on it and purchase it, I tell her no or ask mommy and daddy. Great thing is she loved her ice cream and we had a great time talking and just hanging out. I told her how happy she makes me and how much so many people love her. I believe that every girl, young lady, and woman needs to know that. Girls need to know how very special they are. This is not to say that boys are not; I am just speaking from my experience growing up. I just holds are very dear place in my heart. Of course that is for all people! :)

What I want is for all of you to know how near and dear you are. This life is but a blink. So quick that we could barely even notice. But, there are those moments. Beautiful moments that make such an impression upon our lives. You are that impression and it is a beautiful thing.

Be that beauty to someone because they need it just as you need that beauty for you.

It's been how long??

I have been gone for a very long time! A lot has gone on since I was last here. I move out from my parents and am now living with some of my dear friends. One of the best things about it is that I am living with a four year old as well. Her name is Emma and she is such a joy. She calls me Auntie Kandice which well suits me I must say :).

I now have two nieces and a nephew from my brother. I am working and going to school still (I know, I know still in school). Sometimes it can feel very never ending. The great thing is that I have a goal set and a finish date...Yay for me! I have been picking up on paying jobs for my photography lately which has been great! The photo in my banner are pictures from a shoot a did recently for a baby shower. I staged the table and took the photos. There will be more to come of course! I also did a pregnancy shoot this past weekend which was great! I have not done one in a while and hope to do more.

The website is being revamped so I will be placing a link for that as well. Now it may be just me but, I have to figure how to get my badge from instagram on here. I cannot seem to find the place for it lol! It is late a night or should I say early in the morning for me right about now. I need to go to bed but, I wanted to get these pictures done. It will be a great day tomorrow and the rest of this week will be super bright! Until tomorrow I will leave you with this lovely photo. Be well and good morning or good night to you! :)

Decisions, decisions, decisions..........

A lot has been going on with me. I have come to a place where some decisions will have to be made and the interesting bit is that both involve a new location, job, and school. The first is something that I have mentioned before. We (my parents and I) are in the process of moving. Because of circumstances with my step-dad having to resign from his job we can not afford our home and will have to move. The good thing is that houses are cheaper now so we should be able to find something better and at a great price. Another thing is that I am in the process of going to another school. The last is that I need a new job.

I have been looking around here (mind you I am in Southern California) and due to many cut backs they are making it more difficult to get into a univeristy. I have another option that has presented itself and that is to go to UTA which is located in Texas. My best friend (who I call Twin) is located there and so is family on my mom's side and some other friends. My Twin's mom and sibilings (with whom I am close to) have offered for me to live with them and would help me with finding a job and everything. UTA has a great photography program and masters in fine arts program that I really like.

Tough decision and I am having to pray about this because it has to be right. I am going to apply and still keep my options open. I am not fully announcing just putting it out there. We shall see how it all turns out..............

A Lovely Christmas <3

Home is a wonderful thing and you don't know that you are truly there until you are surrounded by those you love. My most dear and treasured times have been more amplified since coming back home. I am absolutely in love with my God, family, and community. Thank you Lord for coming to save me and thank you for giving us opportunities to celebrate your love. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Waiting and debating on Mars...I mean London :)

Can you believe that it is all ready December??? I can't, and to be honest I love this time of the year because it means being with the people I love more then ever. Call me a mushy dork but, I love the idea of family coming together. Plus, the Holidays (capitalized on purpose) at my house are most lovely and entertaining at the same time. I am still in London right now and have about 6 days left here. Wow!! That is unbelievable when I think about the fact that I have been here for all most three months.

I will be trying some new things out once I get home. I will be making myself some vintage clothes out of recycled clothes which should be fun and frustrating at the same time ((gotta love the adventurous woman in me)) hehe. I can hand sew but, I have yet to learn how to properly use a sewing machine. I have made a long skirt before out of old jeans that I could not fit or that had holes in them. That turned out very nice and lot's of people have been asking me to make them one. Gosh! could they really afford me? hehe.

Okay so I had my final convener (basically a meeting for art presentations; for those that don't know), and it went very well. The only thing that I would have changed was how I presented it. I did not have enough money at the time to print out the photos so, I had them on my laptop. That was the only thing that they critiqued and other then that they loved the photos. I do have to say that being out here I have gotten more confident with the camera and have learned more about my shooting style and bringing a person's personality out from the camera. If you want to see the photos I presented in my final presentation just follow this link http://decorumphotography.wordpress.com/ This will take you straight to me and my friend's blog. That is the name of our photography business. I will also have some other pictures I have taken on http://grayscalephotography.blogspot.com/ . Don't mind the title because that is not my personal business anymore. I just can't change the name of it. So many pictures, so little time. I just have an essay and a taxi to book and I am good to go! For now, you can enjoy some of my silliness. Later friends!

Happy Thanksgiving Away

The day is over for me but still going back home. Of course, I am missing my family...missing my nieces and just would love to be home right now. *sigh* It is apparent that I don't like it here but, you try and make the most of your time. I would not say that it is London per say it is New Cross, London that I do not like (oh and Goldsmiths). It will not be long though, I have two weeks left before I leave. I know that I am not the only one feeling the anticipation to be home in a the familiar place.

I am looking forward to being with my loved ones, a bath tub (how lovely), my comfy bed and room, my car, working out in a gym (since I have been doing so in my room), and last (but not least) eating my Mom's wonderful food *drool*. It will be great to not have to wash my clothes in the sink or shower and to not hear sirens and drunk kids outside my window LOL! Until then I dream of home and take in what good things I can here. I'm off to bed. It is 2:35 am and I have been attempting to wake up early for w while now. Does not help when I am up late I know..haha....Oh well! Good night, good morning, good afternoon to you all!
